The Importance of Music

Music is truly a universal language, one that crosses all the borders and
rises over and above all of the seeming divisions between races and peoples.

But there are also other and very important considerations to keep in mind
when we begin to learn an instrument, whatever that instrument may be.

When we tap into music it is like learning another language, a language that anyone can comprehend directly through the heart. Our minds interpret musical sounds in a completely different way to how we comprehend words and the spoken language.

Learning to comprehend the language of music helps us to open doors of communication that transcend all sorts of perceived borders and barriers and this goes beyond our humanness as well. Animals have a musical language of their own, just as plants are known to be sensitive to sounds and tones and will respond differently when exposed to certain kinds of music.

In music we find a confluence of the most basic and primeval forces in nature.
Vibrations surround us on every level of existence, they shape and mold who and what we appear to be in this world.  They give us a means of expression and a means of communication. Music is capable of bridging any divide because it transcends boundaries.

Therefore it is vital to understand how crucial a place music can have in our lives and even more particularly in the lives of our children, whether they appear to have musical abilities or not.
